The Yellow Wallpaper!

The story "The Yellow Wallpaper" identifies the slow mental degeneration of a young woman.  Her husband, John, forces her to go into a "rest cure" in a new house.  She isn't allowed to write or go anywhere besides the room.  She likes everything besides the wallpaper of the room.  She spends 3 full months examining it over and over again.  Being in this room forces her to become totally insane.  She begins to see a woman in the wallpaper pattern, with bars in front of her.  This story is like a journal of the young woman on her journey of losing grip of reality and becoming more and more distant from her friends and family.  Her goal is to set the woman free from the wallpaper, which could symbolize herself becoming free from the room.  It could also have a bigger meaning of the whole women role in society. On the last day she finally rips the wallpaper off the walls and begins to crawl around the room, going completely off the deep end.  When he husband finally got into the room and saw her, I believe he passed out and she continued to crawl over him, for he was in her path.
